Kinzie Builders Breaks Ground On New Shelter That Supports Young Women Experiencing Homelessness
Community support is a foundational value of Taylor Johnson client Kinzie Builders, which is why it was so fitting that on the cusp of Kinzie’s 10th anniversary, the firm began construction on a new shelter in Des Plaines, Ill., for The Harbour, an organization that supports young women and transgender youth experiencing homelessness. Upon hearing The Harbour’s fundraising efforts to replace the inadequate current shelter were stalled due to the pandemic, Kinzie committed to not only offer its services at a reduced rate, but also engage subcontractors who agreed to do the same, passing all savings along to the organization. The TJ team was thrilled to share this news and bring more attention to the cause, resulting in coverage in Bisnow, CBS Chicago/WBBM-TV, Chicago Construction News, Daily Herald, Newsbreak, and REjournals.
