A Groundbreaking Development: The Reed Rises Along The River

October 11, 2021

The 7-acre Southbank development in Chicago’s South Loop has been recognized multiple times as an oasis of luxurious and sustainable riverfront living.  Developed by Taylor Johnson client Lendlease, the master-planned community is beginning to grow as construction begins on The Reed. When it delivers in 2023, The Reed will feature 216 condominiums and 224 apartments, as well as dual amenity suites including an expansive pool deck and indoor/outdoor fitness center. Of course, the most notable amenity is Southbank Park, a public 2-acre green space at the center of the Southbank master plan that includes a fully programmed riverwalk. In addition to managing the groundbreaking event, TJ shared news of the construction milestone with media, securing coverage in Urbanize Chicago, as well as in Chicago Business JournalConnect ChicagoChicago ArchitectureREjournalsMulti-Housing NewsCouncil on Tall Buildings and Urban HabitatConstruction Review OnlineREBusinessOnline and Commercial Real Estate Direct.

The Reed also graces the cover of the fall issue of Urban Land Magazine, whose release coincides with this week’s Fall Meeting. If you’re planning to attend, be sure to connect with Taylor Johnson President Emily Johnson, who is a member of ULI’s planning committee for the event and will be on-site each day through Thursday.

Scheduled for completion in 2023, The Reed will bring 440 residences to Lendlease’s 7-acre Southbank community along the South Branch of the Chicago River.
